AC/DC – Who Could Replace Brian Johnson?

I recently posted an article regarding the AC/DC situation, Brian Johnson having been forced to cancel several dates over in the USA due to apparently being on the verge of going deaf… since then it’s as if the football transfer deadline window is coming to a close with the media, online chat rooms and social media having all gone into a wild frenzy on who (if anyone) is going to replace the flat capped geordie.

The band themselves, or rather it’s probably down to their management, having announced the US dates will be rescheduled “likely with a guest vocalist” so it’s of course this wording that has sparked the rumors and debates… currently the big one being Axl Rose, purely because some DJ has a source claiming it’s “all but a done deal” after Axl was seen in Atlanta, the same time as the rest of AC/DC.

Axl Rose – Guns n Roses

So with the almost classic Guns n Roses line up reunited, which was apparently never going to happen and now is, could Axl manage to replace Brian?  Here’s the more recent Axl ego line-up of G n R covering “Whole Lotta Rosie”:

If the bookies are taking bets though, it’s not the only rumor since the news of Brian Johnson has been announced…

Marc Storace – Krokus

Having once turned down the opportunity to replace the late great Bon Scott, Krokus have had a successful career and Marc Storace has since taken himself out of the running… but then again I remember Harry Redknapp claiming he’d never leave Pompey for Southampton FC.

Here’s Marc Storace performing “Highway to Hell” with the band QL:

Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist – The Hives:

So in true media fashion, the moment the charismatic Swede put his name up for the role by posting a passing comment on Twitter, the possibility had to be considered – I do love the Hives, but this old demo covering “Back in Black” won’t do them any favors:

Joel O’Keefe – Airbourne

They too have supported AC/DC and are often compared to their fellow Australian rockers, here they are though on a much smaller stage with their “Whole Lotta Rossie”:

Steven Tyler – Aerosmith

This man needs no introduction, his voice is incredible and they do go back a long way…

Rob Halford – Judas Priest:

Another old friend to join the rumor mill, he’s stood in for Ozzy Osbourne in Sabbath, could he stand in for Brian Johnson?  Well just for the fun of it here’s a Rob Halford impersonator collaborating with an AC/DC tribute on “Hells Bells”:

Dave Evans – ex AC/DC:

People forget there  was  singer before Bon Scott and Brian Johnson, so now seems a good time for original vocalist Dave Evans to come out the woodwork and remind he’s still performing… but the chances of being back in the band aren’t very likely:

Hopefully though it’s all been blown out of proportion, yes AC/DC have been in the press loads in the last couple of years with the sad news of Malcolm Young having retired from the band due to dementia, then with drummer Phil Rudd not joining the rest of the guys on tour as the result of bizarre drugs and the attempting to procure murder accusations, but here’s hoping the Brian Johnson situation isn’t as serious and he makes a speedy recovery and is back before too long…

…either that, or we can resurrect Bon Scott, although starting that rumor would possibly be a touch too much:
