SOUTHSEA FEST 2016 – THE SHIP IS A COMING… part 2

Good day to you shipmates,

Early last month the return of Southsea Fest was announced, which interspersed with various updates on the ever increasing Victorious Festival line-up sees Portsmouth and Southsea continue to make it’s mark on the festival scene… yes we’ve had a couple of festivals this year already, but when it comes to Southsea Fest and Victorious, there’s an air of excitement before anyone’s even started to build a stage – let alone step onto one.

As always Southsea Fest will continue to support the local and underground scene, with the latest batch of announcements including the awesome dub-reggae/ska of Zegema Beach, one man band The Fugitive Orchestra, noise mongers Melt Dunes, indie-rock of Noyo Mathis and 60’s influenced rock n roll both young and old in Emptifish and Bullybones plus of course many more.

That’s not all though, for with the festival branching out following a years absence to include more venues (one of which being the larger Pyramids, a short walk away from the main strip) there’s also the addition of some more widely known names:

The Pigeon Detectives join the likes of Mystery Jets and Lucy Rose, the detectives having a string of top 40 albums and singles under their belt (the platinum debut in “Wait for me” reaching number 3 in the UK).  Lonely the Brave are also announced, having received critical acclaim in both national press and commercial radio, Honeyblood make the trip down from Scotland, whilst Smoke Fairies return to the city for more of their beautifully crafted songs – looking forward to seeing if they will bring a full band or strip it back to an acoustic affair.

So, if you’re local then you have no excuses and if you’re from further afield it’s most definitely worth buying your ticket for the ship will soon be upon us.
