YVONNE – “ENDLESS SOUL” EP

The phrase female singer songwriter often draws instant comparisons to those around them at the time and Yvonne is no exception, although that’s not to say it’s a bad thing as if you enjoy listening to the likes of Laura Marling or Katie Rusby then I’m sure you too will appreciate Yvonne’s take on the tried and tested formula of the solo female artist.

Having moved on from her one woman approach in previous EP “The Rare One” the additional bass and drums remain firmly in the background on this release, making Yvonne stay true to herself as she continues to perform heartfelt tunes rather than having to hold back to accommodate any additional writers.

It is however the Irish vocals that draw you into the EP as opener “I didn’t know” keeps the honesty from her debut release earlier in the year, however now working with the aforementioned musicians Yvonne has been able to develop her song-writing with “Time” making for a more mainstream appeal whilst the title track “Endless Soul” follows her Irish roots and folk singers from years gone by.

Lyrically this EP continues with the personal touch on “Stay With Me” as Yvonne often sings about relationships both past and present whilst at times sounding in line with one of her various Irish counterparts Gemma Hayes, again that may read as easy comparisons but there’s something familiar in Yvonne’s delivery that makes “Endless Soul” an EP that you can listen to and enjoy alongside those that may have become more household names.
